Experience

David Shackley, Senior Vice President, overseeing global creative, events, partnerships, internal communications. In this role, he has played a key part in the growth of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, which now boasts over 219 million members. 
Prior to Marriott, David was the Executive Producer of Global Launch Events at Apple, where he contributed to the launch of two iPhones, the first Apple Watch, and the  Worldwide Developers Conference. He also served as President and Chief Creative Officer at RedPeg Marketing, managing creative strategies for clients including Geico, Mercedes, Call of Duty and the NBA, and producing over 1,500 live events. Rumor has it that David even donned the Gecko costume himself to engage with consumers directly—because sometimes, you’ve got to get in the trenches (or the mascot suit) for real connection.
David’s impressive career includes significant roles at Mark Burnett Productions, where he oversaw marketing and communications for hit shows like The Voice and The Bible, and at Discovery Channel, where he managed Shark Week and several other Emmy-winning programs. During his time at AOL, he was part of the marketing team that famously cluttered mailboxes everywhere with CD-ROMs promoting AOL version 3.0—proof that sometimes you really can "mail it in!” Additionally, while at AOL David directed high profile activations including SXSW, a Super Bowl Half time show, and the huge music event, Live8. 

Passions

A passionate advocate for swimming, David serves on the board of USA Swimming's Foundation, where he helps raise funds for swim lessons and develops initiatives to support the next generation of Olympians. Sadly, he’s just a tad too old to qualify for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, but he’s more than ready to cheer from the sidelines. 

About

David's journey began in England, where he served seven years in the Royal Air Force, proving that he can handle a little pressure—both in the skies and at the office. When he’s not rolling up his sleeves to get the job done, you can find him in the water. A dedicated swimmer, David has tackled several English Channel swims, conquered the challenging Alcatraz race, and completed numerous ocean and lake swims across the USA and Europe. After all, he believes that if you can dodge a few sharks and still look fabulous in a swimsuit, you can handle anything that comes your way!
